My top life lesson from 2022
You can be playful and unusual in your passion projects, without having a fixed outcome in mind.
I have said yes to so many trainings, healings, business courses and experiences that those around me have told me are risky, silly, weird, harmful, irrelevant to the “real world” and expensive. This year, I took a Reiki Level 1 training course, I studied in psychodynamic coaching and I took up ballet! While there’s no logical staged progression here, I’ve done them anyway because I trusted my gut and opened myself to guidance that felt like it was coming from a true, pure place. My learning? You don’t have to listen to what you “should” be doing. All of these things have improved my career in different ways, giving me more energy, fresh insights and lifting my mood.
If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re not someone who will find your role models in those comms people who have risen to “the top” and used their job titles as their primary marker for success in their lives. Instead, challenge yourself to look to outliers and self-starters who have prioritised their creativity and skills by creating something completely new in the industry from their skills and experience.
You’re ready to be guided by your own instinct and intuition, and to let go of the chorus of authority figures who have previously dictated your options.
For me, moving to France was the start of breaking this pattern and my decisions since then have gradually become more intuitive and creative. But it is a hard pattern to break and there were many layers of people pleasing to peel back in all areas of my life before I got to a place of really stepping into my power.
Now I am liberated enough to really enjoy making my own decisions and trust my gut, even if the outcomes don’t make sense to others - I take pleasure in making them on my terms and no one else’s. And guess what? I’m still here. I’m supporting myself financially and doing work I love with people I value.
And now I’m ready to enjoy life more and feel happy every day - it just took some smashing up of big boulders and some smart, intuitive choices in my darkest moments to get here!
