New York really is the City of Dreams

Finally, I feel ready and confident to take Megawatt Coaching to the City of Dreams. What's your dream for 2023?

It's 2019 and 35-year-old Amy has a dream. It's a dream of standing in a Manhattan skyscraper in the sleek office of one of New York's top PR agencies.

I'm wearing an on-trend trouser suit (or "pant suit" if we're going local), poised on my elegant heels in front of a room of keen-eyed agency employees. They are there to see the bigger picture with their comms career and understand their value to the world at this critical time. The energy in the room is as sparkling as the light on the Chrysler building's spire in the distance.

The reality is that 35-year-old Amy is covered in baby sick. She's been wearing the same scruffy H&M grey cardie for weeks and can't remember when she last had a haircut. Her back is aching from carrying Baby and her body feels out of shape.

Fast forward to December 2022. The flights are booked. The blazer is in her wardrobe. The vision is on its way to becoming a reality.

To get here wasn't as simple as spending the money. It was a journey of breaking through mental barriers that said "I'm not good enough" and "You're being ridiculous".

It was a journey of attuning my coaching to best serve my clientbase of worldclass comms professionals, honing my craft with hours of practice, study and connection. And allowing motherhood and my relationship with my partner to evolve in a way that supports and uplifts me. You can't control the timings on this front - believe me, I tried!

So, finally, I feel ready and confident to take Megawatt Coaching to the City of Dreams. I haven't got the workshop booked yet, but I have 3 months to pitch it and secure it. Know anyone running a New York comms team? Send them my way :)

And you? What's your dream for 2023?

Who do you want to be in 2028?

Looking further ahead helps you see how 2023 will be a stepping stone year towards this longer term vision, bringing patience and grace, instead of rushing and pushing yourself too hard too soon.
