Megawatt Coaching Case Studies

Freddie landed a great new comms role at Disney

Freddie Saunders - Megawatt coaching case studies

Freddie wanted an exciting in-house opportunity. We started by defining a clear vision for her future, with structured goals. I supported her with developing her profile for LinkedIn and her CV so she would attract the best opportunities. She grew her confidence so that she celebrated her successes and articulated her personal purpose in the interview stages. She has now accepted a role in The Walt Disney Company’s Corporate Reputation team as Corporate Communications Manager.

“Wanted to thank you again for your advice, ability to help structure my thoughts and practical support (e.g. CV writing, LinkedIn bio). Applying for a new position whilst juggling a busy role is no easy task and I’m so glad I invested in coaching to support myself through this process.”

Debbie found purpose in her work

Debbie Spitz - Megawatt coaching case studies

After a 20 year, successful career in corporate communications, Debbie was ready to discover a stronger sense of personal purpose and align her next move to her values. In her search for a global head of comms role, she knew it would be highly competitive and that she would have to feel both confident and passionate about the opportunity to secure her dream job.

During the coaching, we created a plan of action that felt energising to her and ensured she only looked for opportunities that aligned to her values. She also decided to invest in her sustainability expertise and began studying for a prestigious qualification to boost her sustainability expertise.

It was also important to Debbie to feel good about her freelance contracting during her search for her dream permanent role and we focused on ensuring her outlook remained positive and that she continued to learn, whatever project she led. Volunteering at her local food bank during the job hunting process also helped her increase her sense of personal purpose. She now has secured a Comms Lead role in an environment and culture that feels right for her and will make full use of her sustainability expertise.

“Amy has changed my professional outlook 100%. I started working with her to help me clarify what I wanted out of my next career move. But, more than that, she helped me realise my worth, instilled confidence in me and (it might sound a bit new age!) she helped me put positive vibes out into the world, which has led to people approaching me about opportunities. I come out of every session energised, full of new ideas and excited about the future. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

Lorna secured a keynote at PR Week

Lorna presenting at PR Week Crisis Comms Summit

Imagine the scene. You’re in the audience at the PR Week Crisis Comms Summit. Someone taps you on the shoulder. It’s the event organiser asking you to fill in for another speaker at the last minute. Half an hour later you’re on stage being interviewed by Andy Coulson!

Lorna is an established crisis comms specialist for the hospitality and travel sector. She enlisted me to coach her so she could grow her (already successful) consultancy to strategically attract her dream clients in the hospitality sector.

Watch Lorna discussing her coaching experience here.

“I enjoyed working with Amy. She's skilled at getting you to dig deep into what you really, really want - sometimes I found our sessions quite difficult, but that's no bad thing, it's exactly what I needed! Working together has given me the time and space, tools and guidance to really focus on the direction I want for my business. Working independently, I realised how much I missed having someone to be accountable to, other than myself and my clients - having Amy to bounce off has been invaluable.”

Doug transformed his work/life balance

Doug Keighley Megawatt coaching case studies

As an experienced freelancer with both agency and in-house experience under his belt for a broad range of consumer and B2B names, Dough was ready to consider what he wanted to do next with his career and his life.

We unpicked his talents and passions within the industry and he came to the conclusion that work/life balance was a fundamental factor in his next move. This would give him time to work on his other passion as an aspiring novelist. His new found passion for beach volleyball and his ongoing love of sports and keeping fit also holds an important place in his weekly routine. However, this couldn’t be at the expense of financial security as he was also keen to secure a mortgage to become a home-owner.

Since the coaching, Doug has grown his confidence as a leading, credible expert in comms, who is capable of taking on short and long-term contracts - but only when they give him the balance he is looking for. I’m also supporting him to build his online profile with a new website to build his personal brand, showcase his skills and expertise and attract the right network to secure future opportunities.

He’s now working four days a week, with contracts that meet his needs and give him access to both the agency and in-house opportunities that he likes to alternate between.

“Asking friends and family about your next career move is understandable - but to be fair, they’re not going to challenge you the way a professional would. That’s where Amy shines. She’s skilled at getting you to what you actually WANT to do. So I’m grateful! Would recommend to anyone in my comms community 🙌”
