A Feisty Revamp for Megawatt Coaching
When I was four I used to have a dream (or perhaps more of a fantasy) that I rode a unicorn into my school playground. I was proud to be on this unicorn, being admired and appreciated by my small buddies. It's interesting to me that at that age I had no fear of standing out or being different. I literally wanted to be seen - on the back of a magnificent, spangly unicorn!
Just a couple of years later, I started to feel the draw of being the same as others and was mortified when my dad picked me up in his red sports car in front of my friends, because it made me look different and flashy...
Playing on these same fears, it is with some trepidation that I point out my new unicorn to you today. But I'm doing it anyway because it is important to stand out in the metaphorical playground. And wouldn't it be amazing if we all backed ourselves a little more and were a bit less worried about the opinions of others?
I've rebuilt my business to offer new corporate coaching services, workshops and retreats to comms professionals via their employers. From my experience of coaching individuals privately, the employer is often the first to benefit when someone commits to coaching so it doesn't always feel right that my clients are paying with their own money, without the employer even being aware of this. (Also, I really feel like getting into the real world again and meeting real people in real spaces rather than doing everything over Zoom!)
That doesn't mean I won't be doing private career coaching any more. I will. But my real desire now is to get into some awesome businesses and help them as a collective to shine and do brilliant work.
I'll be helping in-house comms teams and agencies to:
Ground and stay present under intense pressure: My coaching tools bring a calm, relaxed magnetism to clients, even when things are going at a million miles an hour. Through somatic practices, visualisations and meditations, alongside support with the mind and its beliefs, we arrive at a place of acceptance and presence - super powerful when your team is facing high-pressure situations and need to reduce stress levels without cutting workloads...
Build their visibility and commercial credibility: One of my favourite chestnuts is the lack of self-worth among comms folk, so I am supporting comms teams and agencies to go beyond presentation skills and outward displays of fake confidence. Using my psychodynamic training, I'll help your team identify their deepest fears around being seen and welcoming in new, more balanced perspectives on how and when it is ok to stand out and speak out. This does wonders for the reputation and strategic impact of their amazing work.
Boost motivation and encourage employees to stay the course: There's no doubt that our industry has been pivoting and shuffling its way towards an updated position in the marketing mix. Now it's time to align individuals with a sense of why and how they want to be a part of its future within your organisation. If you don't feel aligned and fulfilled in your work, it's hard to define career progression and commit to the future of a company. So we do this work together to bring fresh motivation, energy and direction to your whole team.
This is me standing out in the playground. How about you? What would you like to tell others about who you are and what you want to offer the world next? I'd love to know - it is high time we all hit the soapbox and spoke up for our own wisdom and expertise, instead of letting certain orange-haired men get all the glory...
In all seriousness, if you want me to work on any of these areas with your employer, or to bring some on-tap coaching on any other themes, please direct them to my webpage for agencies here, and for in-house comms teams here.
